|The face of pure joy, when my food came.|
It has been a while. I’m pretty sure I say this all the time, but in the last month life has been happening all at once and way too quickly if you ask me. The final year of university is not a joke, if I make it all the way until the end with clear skin and no signs of grey hair, did I even do it correctly? Since the semester is nearly over expect more content from me before the year is over.
Since we are 3 weeks away from closing the 2017 chapter, I have been reflecting over the past year. The things I have managed to get done, the things I’m still working on and the things I’m yet to achieve. The whole point of my blog is to share my joys and pitfalls, so people know that they are not the only ones going through something; even the best people have bad days, months, years. There have been moments where I have felt as though, I haven’t done enough or my year hasn’t been as productive as the next person. I recently read somewhere that humans shouldn’t feel the burden of being productive, for productivity is for machines; instead, we should focus on being effective – just because you are “busy” does not equal being effective.
With that in mind, I quickly realised that I have achieved so many things this year that I am proud of. I have grown as a person and throughout the bumps, I have learned that I am stronger than I give myself credit for. I have had the chance to travel with my friends and family – this in itself is a luxury that not everyone is able to or will ever experience. However, the one constant I’ve had this year is my faith, for it is what has kept me grounded, through it all.
My advice to you today is
1 – Count your blessings, there are more than you think there are.
2 – Don’t wait until the new year to start again or start whatever you wanted to do earlier in the year; start it today, tomorrow, next week … just start.
“Do not despise the small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” Zechariah 4:10
To those who think their year was all round terrible and they want 2018 to be better, I’ll leave you with a quote from Batman
“The night is darkest just before the dawn, I promise you the dawn is coming”
